omg I know just how you feel...when I just gotten my period it was the summer I was 13...I couldn't go swimming whenever I had my period :/ it sucked. I tried several times to use a tampon but I just couldn't do it..I was weird.
I finally put one in when I was 14.
Here are some tips though.
I find that the plastic ones with plastic applicaters go in smoother!
Also, the first time I ever got a tampon in(after several tries lol) I tried it in the shower and it was my first time trying it in the shower. I don't know why that helped I guess because it was a little when down there..and it was also my first time trying a plastic applicater.
So, if you use a plastic applicater, and try it when you're in the shower(just point the water away from you)..then just spread your vagina out with your fingers, slowly push the applicater in and just push it in far and then push the tampon in and take out the applicater. It's super easy now...I don't even think about it now!(i'm 17 now)
I know how hard it is to talk about this to your mom...I never did lol
OK, I'm rambling..I hope I helped. haha
I hope my answer made sense :)
Good luck and have fun!! :D

Just try a tampon! It doesnt hurt, and it's quite easy to put in. Slide your fingers down your "lips", you know? when they stop that's where the vaginal opening starts. Point the tampon towards your lower back at about a 45 degree angle and push until your fingers hit your vagina, then push the little button thing to insert the tampon and dispose of the applicator. if you feel any discomfort, it's probably not in far enough, take it out and try a new one. also, RELAX. i found it easiest to listen to music when i put mine in the first time, sing in your head to get your mind off of it. try to do it when you're heavy as it will go in easier. best of luck!!!also i personally find that playtex sport are the most comfortable and go in easiest. get plastic applicators as cardboard or any other ones hurt more. good luck!

Hey Girl! You'll have to use a tampon. I started using them, because pads always leaked for me. I would go and buy Tampax Pearl tampons. Buy the lowest absorbency they have and buy teen or slender sizes, because they'll be easier to get in. They have clear explanations inside the box.
When you go to put it in, relax! Aim in toward your lower back and slide it in. Then push the thing and then the applicator comes out. There you go!
Then when you take it out, make sure you pull it out the same way you put it in. And if it is uncomfortable, then it probably hasn't absorbed enough.
Also make sure you don't leave a tampon in more than eight hours, because you might get sick.
Good Luck!!

It sounds like now is a great time to start using tampons. It can be uncomfortable to learn any new technique, and tampon insertion is a new technique for you. It may or may not be actually painful, but a totally inserted tampon is not felt and, therefore, is very comfortable. After a few times, the insertion becomes automatic and you really don't feel anything. Tampon insertion should be tried when you have your period.Click Here and Click Here .
are pages that will help you with insertion. But if you are doing it all right and cannot insert a tampon it may be that your hymen, the thin membrane that partially covers and protects the opening to your vagina may be too small or too tight to allow the tampon in. If this is the problem you may have to stretch this opening. You can try with a little bit of K-Y Jelly on the tip of the applicator...the more you practice the more you will stretch the hymen. If you cannot stretch it yourself, you may want to ask your doctor for help.
Also, Tampax Pearls are great tampons to use as they are easier to insert.
Good luck, Your BEINGgirl Experts
