I just got back from Hawaii last night and highly recommend Hawaii. There is an energy of Aloha in Hawaii, people are friendly the islands are so mellow. We stayed in Hilo on the Big Island. You can hike to waterfalls, to the erupting volcano Pele, hike tropical gardens and snorkel to see tropical fish in the most beautiful of blue oceans. (If you go snorkeling go with Captain Zodiac). You can go horseback riding and sit on the oceans under coconut trees. We saw wild turtles feeding on one beach.

I also recommend searching vacation rentals in the area where you'll be staying. You'll have a lot more privacy in a vacation rental. Our rental was $68 per night for four people (it was a home with five rooms).
