Answer #1:
If you are taking a 5-year old, I would advise looking into the Disney cruises - They have tons of fun stuff for all ages and their island is great.Answer #2:
try going on Celebrity cruises, good for the whole family, trust me, there is so much to do on a cruise, that it would be impossible to get bored.Answer #3:
I would probably do something else. Cruises have activities, but nothing like you described. Cruising for the most part is still about laying in the sun, drinking, and going to the beach. Many will say its not, but that's what the majority of the passengers do.Answer #4:
There are lots of excursions from cruise ships but many are water based - swimming, beaches, water sports etc. There are many land based excursions - but nothing action packed like a theme park.If you enjoy a theme park more than the beach then you may not enjoy a cruise. However, cruise ships have karaoke, casinos, game rooms, and tons of activities for children and adults so if your girlfriend really wants to cruise then keep an open mind and make an appointment with a travel agent to learn about the different cruise lines and the types of excursions they offer.
Answer #5:
Well, unlike Mat, I go on cruises, and never lie in the sun or go to a beach.I have no question but that your daughter will have a wonderful time. The cruise ships have programs for children, and keep them very busy.
On my last cruise (Royal Caribbean), I had these choices amongst others, while on the ship:
miniature golf
golf range
in-line skating
ice skating
rock climbing
basket ball and all other sports- just about everything
ping pong, shuffle board
lectures and classes, including active classes (I went to water exercise class).
fitness center and SPA
movies all day long.
hilarious games, which literally make you roll in the aisles
of course there's the pools and jacuzzis
In the evening there are nightly shows
On my ship there were fantastic ice shows
movies
midnight buffets
casino
dancing and all types of music.
my 12 day cruise had 2 entertaining parades
Then there are the ports. Sight seeing does not have to be stuffy buildings. You can go hiking, go on an aerial tram ride above the trees in the rain forest, visit a butterfly farm, take a cable car to the top of a mountain, wander the streets and see another culture, etc.
If this is not enough for you, then I would not choose a cruise.
Answer #6:
Last year I went on an Alaskan cruise with 4 people like you, very active, get bored easily and do NOT lay around in the sun. They LOVED cruising. They hiked, went on a jet boat, roller bladed, and 2 of them did scuba(they are certified scuba divers), danced, worked out on the ship, and much much more. They didn't have time to get bored. A cruise is all about what you make of it. Yes you can lay around, OR you can do activities all the time. BTW, this last cruise was 10 days, so all I can say is do not listen to people who say you will get bored. Cruising is relaxing, but you sure can keep busy at the same time. Also two of these four people that I talked about were kids, age 7 and 10.Answer #7:
Believe me .You would not be bored on a cruise . There are plenty of activities for your daughter on board .You get treated like Royalty , the food is first class ,the shows are fantastic ,You can go on excursions ,the list is endless ,ENJOY.Answer #8:
Well-- here is my input- I just got back from a cruise today that was supposed to last 5 more days! I hated every minute of it and will never ever go on a cruise again in my whole life. I was never comfortable. My room was either too hot or too cold, never just right. The whole time I was sleeping the air that is coming in to your room is the same air over and over again blowing right on my face. By the second morning I woke up with a terrible cough. I then went outside and noticed I was not the only one i heard people coughing out their lungs on almost every balcony! The water in the pools on the ship was sooo cold you could not enjoy it. Then when you were way too hot you had no other choice but to suck it up and get in and out of the pool quickly, you then had to deal with the winds that were giving extra goose bumps until you felt overly hot and then would have to repeat the whole thing over again. I felt trapped in that room, and by the way I had one of the bigger rooms with an outdoor balcony. I would never recommend a cruise to anyone- if all you like to do is a whole bunch of "Nothing" and a whole bunch of "Eating" then this is the place for you. As for my husband and I we spent over $750.00 to leave on the 3 rd day! :(** Powered by Yahoo Answers
