I would say Cancun is a wonderful place! We went there last summer and stayed at the Riu Palace Las Americas. It was an all inclusive resort so food and alcohol were all included. It was really nice. They have a buffet and about 4 or 5 other restaurants. You don't have to eat at the hotel though, you could also eat at places like Senor Frogs and Hard Rock Cafe.
When it comes to adventure, I have some fun ideas. You could visit Chichen Itza. There are also scuba and snorkeling tours available. The best part? You don't have to drive anywhere. There is transportation to and from every hotel in the "Hotel Zone" to the place you want to go.
The best part of our vacation was Selvatica. It is an experience through the jungle. You start your day off zip lining through the jungle trees with guides. If you want, they will even let you go upside down or "superman style." After you are done with your zip line tour, you will get to take another adventure to an underground cenote. Some ways you can get to the cenote are via Bike,Van, Segway, Horse on the Beach or our favorite...Dunebuggies. We took the Dunebuggy tour and you get to ride in a dunebuggy through the mud and dirt and all around on another tour and then you end at the cenote where you will find yourself 150% relaxed. The cenote is so beautiful and after you swim around the cenote, you will be given an opportunity to climb a set of stairs and then jump 15-20 feet back into the cenote. After you are done with both tours, you will head back to the "station" and have a traditional mexican lunch and get to watch a video they took of you through your adventures. Selvatica was the best part hands down.
Not only did we enjoy Selvatica, we enjoyed the hotel as well!!
